Read Aloud
This weeks read aloud was Money, Money, Honey Bunny by Marilyn Sadler. This book was a good book to teach kids about saving money. It also tied in with moral development such as responsibility. I think this book was be a good book to read to first graders.
Learning Experience
This week we took notes on moral development. I learned a lot about this subject. I learned the three stages and the ages in which each kid normally reaches them. Something I found interesting was that most people never reach the post conventional stage. This subject is something all teachers should know so that they are aware of how their students think and act at that specific age.
Quote Of The Week
This weeks quote is, "Never mistake knowledge for wisdom. One helps you make a living; the other helps you make a life." Written by Sandra Carey. I agree with this quote because knowledge is not the same thing as wisdom. Knowledge is material that you have learned that, yes, will help you make money and a living. Wisdom helps you make a life by thinking from what you already know.
Current Event

Out of all of the articles dealing with this horrific shooting in Connecticut, this stood out the most. It has to deal with the braveness and selflessness of the teachers. They put the kids entirely before themselves. In a situation like that, it may be hard to act quickly, and very hard to keep everyone safe but yourself. One teacher hid her kids in cabinets while she was left in the open. When this crazy messed up human being broke the door down he was told by the teacher that her kids were in the gym and in a result she was shot multiple times. I don't think anyone will every understand why this guy had the nerve to slaughter little kids. I cant even begin to imagine what could possibly posses him to do this. It is absolutely horrible.
Observations
This week I went to Thompson Middle School and observed a sixth grade history class. I really enjoyed this teacher and his methods of getting the kids interested. He started off with a short funny video that had to do with the subject, then he explained it while he had all the kids attention. Then he made graphic organizer but had the kids tell him what to fill in so they they had knowledge of the subject. I think this teacher was nice and fun which results in the kids enjoying his class and wanting to learn.
Reflections
This week was very busy. All my classes are cramming in information to get in another test before the holidays! Cant wait until Christmas break!!!!
I want more! More reflections and reactions to things we have done in class and outside class! Videos can aid in learning. His video was an attention grabber. Did it work? It is our job to protect our students! Their safety comes first and foremost.
